Hello neighbors! If there is one thing we all love, it is having fun for free. Well lucky for you, you live at AV8 in San Diego, where there are tons of fun, free adventures to experience.
Queen Califia’s Magical Circle
Take for instance Queen Califia’s Magical Circle. You can find this magical circle in the Iris Sankey Arboretum in Escondido’s Kit Carson Park. Interestingly enough, Queen Califia’s Magical Circle is the only American sculpture garden. This free spot was created by Niki de Saint Phalle and includes nine large-scale mosaic sculptures. One of those sculptures is a snake wall that leads into a 400-foot maze. You can experience this wonderland Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM to noon and the 2nd Saturday of each month.
Old Town San Diego Historic Park
For those interested in learning about the history of Old Town, then head on over to the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. While there you can meander throughout the park and discover what life was like during the 1880s. Such locations include a schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, and San Diego’s first newspaper office. These free attractions include tons of souvenir shops and restaurants. So feel free to grab lunch and make a day out of it in the iconic Old Town of San Diego.
Other Free Adventures
Along with those adventures, head on over to Balboa Park. Particularly for their lawn programs at their House of Pacific Relations Cottages. These programs are every Sunday during the summer and include ethnic music and dance performances. Then there is the Hale Telescope. Over at the Palomar Observatory, gaze into the wonders of the universe through their state-of-the-art telescope. Finally, head on over to Hillcrest and observe the magnificent Chicano Park Murals.
As you can see, there is no shortage of free activities to explore near AV8. From learning about the history of San Diego to enjoying artwork, whatever you choose to do from this list, you are going to have a fantastic time without spending a dime.Back To Main
