Last week on the blog we explored all the wonderful free adventures to have while living near AV8. This week, we are going to add more to that list as well as discuss additional activities. So take notes and start your bucket list with these 10 things you must do while living in San Diego.
For those looking for a great uphill hike with a surprise ending, then head on over to Potato Chip Rock. Near the end, there is a cliff shaped like a potato chip. On your first visit, we recommend you take a picture at the top, right along the edge. With a total of 6.9 miles, you are bound to have a great workout with an incredible view. That includes a scenery of the Pacific Ocean.
Over at Liberty Station is the Liberty Public Market. Open daily from 11 AM to 8 PM, this public market features all sorts of food, beer, wine, produce, and even a test kitchen. With their special liquor license, visitors are able to browse what artisans have in store with a beer, or a glass of wine, in hand.
For those interested in having the freshest seafood available, make your way over to the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market. Open on Saturdays from 8 AM to 1 PM, you are able to buy all sorts of seafood only minutes after they have been caught. We highly suggest getting there as soon as possible to miss out on the long lines.
We are aware that there are tons of ice cream shops to indulge in. However, Mr. Frostie’s soft-serve ice cream and chili cheese hot dogs are out of this world.
Now, all you AV8 neighbors already have a fantastic view from the Flight Deck. However, there is something truly magical about the sunsets from the Sunset Cliffs. That especially goes for all the dolphins you are more than likely going to see swim by. Some of the cliffs you can venture into are from Ladera Street, Luscomb Point, and Osprey.
Along with being a massive ship, the USS Midway Museum is a part of American Military history. This museum includes 60 exhibits and 29 restored aircrafts.
When March comes back around, make your way over to the Flower Fields in Carlsbad. Even though the flowers are not in bloom, the Carlsbad Ranch is open year-round and makes for a great space for private events.
For any of you who have not yet snorkeled, La Jolla is the perfect place to do so. In this underwater wonderworld, you will also get a chance to swim with sea lions.
There is nothing like picking fresh veggies, fruits, and flowers right from the ground. Whether it be strawberries, apples, or vegetables, there are tons to pick all year round. And, of all the 10 things we have mentioned, this is one of the best activities to do with the family.
For those looking for a secluded hike, then make your way over to Black’s Beach. The trails here can be challenging but once you get to the top, it will all be worth it.
