If there is one thing we can all agree on it would be that the only thing better than listening to music is listening to music live. Thankfully, you all live or are about to live at AV8, a place in Little Italy where there is no shortage of live music. On a weekly basis, San Diego provides you with a number of venues to catch some live tunes.
Live Music Spot #1: The House of Blues
Take for instance the iconic House of Blues on 1055 5th Avenue. As expressed on their website, the House of Blues is the spot for the ultimate night out. “Where great food sets the stage for amazing live concerts.” Open every day except for Monday, there is so much to relish in at the House of Blues.
For instance, they have their weekly concerts featuring a variety of different artists each week. Coming up this week you have the options of hearing Latin A Go-Go on May 5th at 6 PM. Skizzy Mars will be hitting the stage as well on Saturday around 7 PM. Definitely do not miss out on Thursday, May 10th at 6 PM to enjoy free music with Zenith SD and Grupo Nice at 7 PM. Friday will also be a great time as they will be featuring Animal Years and Tech N9ne.
True that all sorts of artists come in and out of the House of Blues. However, our favorite gig to attend is the regular Sunday Gospel brunches. During the brunches, you sit down all together at big tables. Soon after, you hop out of your chairs and dance off all the food to some incredible gospel music. Speaking of food, delicious beer is readily available at the House of Blues regularly. Serving up incredible Southern inspired cuisine, we highly suggest their lowcountry shrimp and grits. No matter your motives for heading over to the House of Blues, know that you are going to a place where the food and tunes are feeding your soul through and through.
Live Music Spot #2: The San Diego Symphony
For those of you with a love for more classical sounds, make your way over to the San Diego Symphony on 750 B St, San Diego, CA 92101. It is fair to say that of all the venues we are listing, this is the most beautiful. The moment you step in you immediately feel like you have stepped back in time.
Coming up in the following weeks, the San Diego Symphony is featuring the following. Playing in the Copley Symphony Hall at 2 PM, you will hear the likes of Richard Strauss and Offenbach. On Friday night you can get a listen to some Barber, Bernstein, and Beethoven at 8 PM. Ranging from Jazz, Chamber music, and even film, the San Diego Symphony is a wonderful place to get cultured in music that is less mainstream.
Live Music Spot #2: The Casbah
Last but certainly not least is The Casbah. For over 28 years this hot spot has been serving music junkies some of the best live music. Multiple shows each day, you can find all sorts of styles and genres here. This week you can head over to see The Lawrence Arms, Of Montreal, Wild Child, Los Kung Fu Monkeys, and Pink Mexico. As far as next week goes, you can relish in the sounds of Dessa, K. Flay, Poptone, Vagabon, and so much more. With all those concerts in mind, it is obvious that The Casbah will be giving you incredible tunes that will keep you on your feet all day and night.
As you can see, there is no shortage of live music events to attend while living at AV8. Seeing as how nothing brings people together more than music, strap on your concert shoes and get ready to add new music to your playlists.Back To Main
